April its Adopt a Greyhound Month

It was the night before Christmas, and not a greyhound was stirring.
So cosy and warm, so sound asleep, legs in the air, it’s such a balancing feat.
Tomorrow would be special, with treats galore, but your four-legged friend wants to share with you more. Feeling happy and blessed to have found their own home. The delight of a new life previously unknown. Only true love, kindness and care; make greyhound eyes sparkle bright, so they even dance with delight. What a wonderful sight. The joy of your greyhound is beyond compare, for its pure LOVE you both do share.

To all who have rehomed, fostered, volunteered, supported, and followed us we wish you a very Happy Christmas, from Northumberland Greyhound Rescue

Dogs rehomed since December!

Rehomes since last newsletter. As always, a huge thank you to our rehoming team and volunteers who support NGR for all their hard work.

Is Two better than One?

Pete and Kelly’s little update on Purdy and Bear.

We have had Purdy for a year and a half now, and she has gone from being a frightened, timid little girl to a cheeky playful greyhound; she is so happy and always up to mischief, whether it’s enticing Bear to play, pinching trainers to collect on her bed or nipping in the bathroom to steal the bathmat.

We adopted Bear a few months later, and I was unsure if two would be a good idea but as usual, Kelly was right, he has settled in perfectly, he’s a big softie and craves attention, he’s playful with Purdy and all the toys are his (even when they’re in Purdy’s mouth), he loves nothing more than wedging all 38kg of himself between Kelly and me on the sofa so he can have strokes from both sides, although he always gives me the smelly end and faces Kelly.

If anyone is thinking of getting a greyhound or a second, please go for it. They have changed our life for the better and brought us so much joy, we have also found a new network of people and friends both with charity and in our local area who have welcomed us into the fold because of these lovely pointy faces that are now part of our family.

NGR agree greyhounds are simply the best!

Still Looking for a home to call their own after 6 months in kennels, could you be that special person to offer Ellie a chance at a new life?  This happy, friendly girl just loves everyone.  Ellie is 5 years old and learning about other breeds but will still need a little help adjusting to meeting other dogs.
